Chairman of the Board
James A. Attwood, Jr. serves as Chairman of the Board of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». He is currently a Senior Advisor at The Carlyle Group, a global investment firm, whose Carlyle Partners V L.P. fund acquired a controlling stake in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in 2011. Attwood joined Carlyle in November 2000 and played a key role in leading the firm’s investment activity in the global telecommunications, media, and technology (TMT) industries for two decades. Before joining Carlyle, Attwood was Executive Vice President for Strategy, Development, and Planning at Verizon Communications. At Verizon (and GTE before that), he oversaw all strategic planning, alliances, ventures, corporate strategy, development, and M&A activities. Before his four years at Verizon and GTE, Attwood served as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for 11 years, working in the New York and Tokyo offices. Attwood graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BA in applied mathematics and an MA in statistics in 1980. He received JD and MBA degrees from Harvard University in 1985.
