The Beauty Behind Oil Treatments

Beautiful people!

First off, Happy New Year! I know this year will be the greatest, I just have that hunch you know? This year has a lot reserved for this space and I promise you, I will make it worth the time.

To start off the year, let’s talk about a favorite of you guys. Hair treatments! More specifically, oil treatments.

Now I know it seems weid to dump a whole lot of oil in your hair and call it a treatment. Can you imagine all that excess oil stuck on your hair? That doesn’t seem right. But believe me, it is all sorts of good for your hair and scalp.

If you are usually styling, heating, detangling and washing, you are putting your hair through a lot. Also in case of weakend, dry, brittle hair with split ends, oil treatments are your cure. If you want to have healthy looking hair feeling its best, pay attention to your oil treatments.

They are important in both cold and hot months. They stimulate hair growth, blood flow, help deal with dry scalp, frizziness, dandruff, breakage, shedding and sealing moisture.

You can use all types of vegetable oils for oil treatments such as:

  • sweet almond oil
  • avocado oil
  • jojoba oil
  • argan oil
  • coconut oil

The oil treatments can be done in two ways; you can apply the oil from your scalp to your ends leave it on for an hour or over night, or you can heat up the oil, let it cool down, apply it from your scalp to your ends and leave it on from 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off.

How I Apply My Oil Treatment

Before applying the shampoo, I apply my oil treatment. Sometimes I use just one oil, most times I use a mix of 2/3 oils. I apply from my scalp to my ends and twist my hair up.

Depending on my mood, I can leave the treatment on for 4 hours or overnight, most times I leave it overnight and undo the twists the next morning to wash.

After washing, I apply a good amount of conditioner and leave it on for 30 minutes.

After the 30 minutes are up, I remove the conditioner.

To seal all that moisture in, I finalize it with my favourite leave-in conditioner and styling cream.

Did you know about the importance of the oil treatments? Do you already do them? Try and do your oil treatments once a week to every two weeks to get the best results.
